WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL (WDC)

          The Women’s Development Cell (WDC) was a statutory body for the prevention of and action against sexual harassment of women. The main objective of WDC was to look into the grievances of teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students, especially in cases of gender discrimination. The Formation of a college level Women Development Cell was made mandatory by the University of Mumbai after the Vishakha Judgment. The Formation of a college level Women Development Cell was established in the year 2003-04. From 2017, separate Internal Complaints Committee has been established for prevention of and action against sexual harassment of women at workplace. Now the main role of Women Development Cell is to promote general well-being of girl students and teaching and non-teaching women staff in college.

The cell is working with the following objectives.

Objectives:

• To create health awareness of girl students and women staff
• To make all round development of girl students and women staff.
• To enhance social awareness among the girl students and women staff.
• To development legal awareness among the girl students and women staff.
• To emphasize the importance of gender equality.
• To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding health and hygiene
• To build the self-confidence of women.
• To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding health and hygiene
• To provide platform to the students to present their skills.
• To organize seminars, workshops relating to women development.
• To prevent sexual harassment and to promote general well-being of female students, teaching, and non-teaching women staff of the College.
