Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE)

          The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension DLLE (known earlier as Department of Adult and Continuing Education and Extension) established on October 12, in the Year 1978 and has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. As a well-founded academic Department of the University of Mumbai, the Department is committed both to the highest standards of excellence, and to ensuring that the University’s unparalleled academic strengths and resources made available to as many interested learners.
          The overall function of the DLLE committees at the college level is to advice on the various activities of the DLLE unit based on the felt needs of the students and the community. The DLLE Committee should discuss the matters pertaining to Programme / Projects to be implemented, review of the activities undertaken, future plan, approve the expenditure incurred on various programmes from time to time, etc.
          The college DLLE Unit is expected to work under the guidance of the Principal who shall form an advisory committee to provide direction to the DLLE activities. The Field Coordinator is expected to motivate the student youth to understand the value of DLLE. The overall functions of DLLE Extension work teacher are to help the students to plan, implement and evaluate the activities of DLLE under his charge and give proper guidance and directions to the student.
The College has opted for 2 activities out of 6.

          The college has 167 enrolled capacities with one unit in academic year 2022-23. The unit to sensitize the students exposes them to various burning issues and social problems. The student volunteers are taught life skills, practical guide and awareness about their rights and duties. They are oriented towards the social cause, and their participation in nation building. Prof. Tushar Shivaji Umasare is working as Extension Work Teacher in our College.

The Unit of Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), University of Mumbai was established in June, 2008. The department aims at sensitizing the students to the socio-cultural realities. The DLLE unit of a college works as per the guidelines provided by DLLE, University of Mumbai. The unit undertakes Career oriented and Community oriented activities. Extension Work Projects: The Department is offering Six types of Extension Work Activities out of which a student can take up any one for entitlement of the benefit of Ten Grace Marks under the Ordinance 229-A. A range of Extension Work activities are offered for enhancing the employability and IT skills of the student.
The projects are given below:
  1. Vocational Career Oriented Projects
  • Annapurna Yojna project (APY)
  • Career project (CP)
  • Industry Orientation Project (IOP)
  1. Community Oriented Project
  • National Institute Open School (NIOS)
  • Population Education Club (PEC)
  • Survey of Women’s Status (SWS)
          The Extension Work student should complete 120 hours of work except for Industry Orientation Project where the minimum requirement is 240 hours. A participation Charge of Rs. 200/- (Rupees two hundred only) out of this an amount of Rs. 100/- is to be retained by the college for the college level expenditure and the balance of Rs. 100/- of each student is to be sent to the University Department. This participation Charge ensures funding for the Extension Programme at the college level.
